About

“Highly recommend this glorious thing, 2 hours, 3 pubs, tall tales, What’s not to like?” – Kathryn Davis, MD, Visit West

“Excellent research…charismatic delivery… comedy…with a little vicarious thrill of terror” – Bristol24/7

Discover the truth about the world’s most notorious pirate in the place where he grew up, exploring dockside hostelries along the way.

Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard was the world’s most infamous pirate and until his death in battle 200 years ago, the most feared. While no records of Teach in Bristol survive, new research in Jamaica proves his local origins – and a family background and previous career that differ wildly from that of your stereotype, rum-soaked pirate.

Your pirate guide, with Ted, the fact-checking parrot, knows the worst pirate jokes you’ll ever hear.  So swash and buckle in Blackbeard’s footsteps and discover the truth, pausing at a couple of dockside hostelries along the way.  You’ll separate the fact from the fiction – and never be short of a story down the pub again.

The tour is followed by the Llandoger Sea Shanty Night, so stay on and join in – it’s free!
