About
1532 Performing Arts Centre is a purpose-built theatre, dance and music facility for Bristol Grammar School and Bristol as a whole. Opened in November 2016, 1532 was named to reflect Bristol Grammar School’s long history, being the year the School received its Royal Charter from Henry VIII.
Located in the centre of Bristol, just off Clifton Triangle, 1532 has something for everyone. It offers a diverse programme of professional theatre, comedy, music and opera, dance, talks, and children’s and family performances, including hosting productions from renowned local companies such as Tobacco Factory Theatres BEYOND, and Bristol Old Vic’s Made in Bristol Company, and participating in the Circus City Festival.
1532 not only offers a state-of-the-art 245 seat theatre, but also The Mackay. Seating up to 100, The Mackay is perfect for smaller intimate performances and has been used for concerts, spoken work and theatre. Additionally 1532 has a beautiful Dance Studio and black box Drama Studio, plus a fully licensed bar and large foyer. All these spaces are available to hire.
