Social Impact

At The Wave, the Impact Programme is designed to bring the positive benefits of water, waves, and the outdoors to as many people as possible, regardless of financial, physical, cultural, or psychological barriers. Through a ring-fenced impact fund, they focus on three key areas: Waves of Growth, supporting and growing the UK’s para-surfing community; Waves of Change, fostering a more diverse surfing community with a focus on gender and ethnicity; and Waves of Support, partnering with organisations that use surfing and surf therapy to support those struggling with poor mental health.

As a Limited Company, rather than a charity, they guarantee that every penny donated goes directly into impact initiatives. Highlights included supporting 72 para-surfers, running multiple surf therapy courses with The Wave Project and Surfwell, hosting women-only “Sister Sessions,” investing in floodlights to extend surf access, generating 2,500 MWh from our solar array, and delivering 140,000 hours of surfing. With the support of partner organisations and individuals, the Wave continue to break down barriers and make the transformative power of blue space accessible to all.
