The most productive tech cluster in the UK
The region is the largest tech cluster outside London. It has a rich history of innovation. The birthplace of the transputer chip, Bristol & Bath have continued to innovate - we staged the world’s first public trial of 5G in 2018 and home to two unicorns Graphcore and OVO Energy.
Bristol & Bath is one of the most exciting areas for electronics technology in the world –a magnet for hardware and software development. Bristol was shortlisted as European Capital of Innovation in 2019 and awarded Global Smart City in 2018.
